Visited in September 2020 with wife and 2 small boys (9 and 5). We were looking for a low key hotel with a kitchen available that offered plenty of activities and the hotel definitely delivered.
Given that we are in a pandemic I’ll lead with the observation that they are taking cleanliness very seriously. There are ample hand sanitizer bottles available throughout and the room was spotless when we arrived. That aside, onto our review.
The hotel is actually a complex comprised of two hotels, a rec center (with indoor pool) and several vacation rental homes clustered together. All are within a 3 minute walk of each other across chase street. Each hotel has its own outdoor pool (corsair is unheated, cross rip is heated). I believe most rooms have kitchettes and you have many options for room based on first/second floor preference, overlooking pool/ocean/parking lot etc. We had a first floor “deluxe” room in the corsair which overlooked the parking lot on one side and extended through the building to end on a second entrance which led out to a short boardwalk to the beach. Although among the most inexpensive we thought these were the most practical offering easy car access, beach access and office access without the noise of people milling about outside (as you would have with pool/ocean view rooms). The area the hotel is located in is very quiet with few public amenities (stores etc.) within walking distance. I think it would be ideal for a family with 0 kids or kids under 12 as older kids may get antsy without a “downtown” to walk to. The game room has shuffleboard, foosball, air hockey and ping pong. Some of the equipment is in better shape than others (the air hockey was not really functional). Both pool decks have outdoor showers so you don’t track sand into the room. Perhaps the best part of the hotel are the staff with Mark and Sapphire being there most often. Both are incredible hosts and really add to the experience.
